All the fun of the fair
Blackpool Central is a £300m regeneration project that will create a world-class leisure destination. Its location just off the famous Golden Mile allowed us to create a brand that is unapologetically colourful and vivid, in keeping with the town’s heritage as a fun-filled tourist resort.
Designed around a circular brandmark referencing its previous incarnation as the world’s busiest railway station, the brand has been created to give the effect of motion even while static. Short, snappy slogans in a suitably seaside-y font bring the core messaging playfully to life.
Animating the brand
A short teaser video was created to demonstrate what visitors can expect when the scheme becomes a reality, maintaining the energy and fun that runs through the brand like a stick of Blackpool rock.
With such a high-profile project, an online portal for information, updates and feedback is essential in keeping the local community up to speed with developments. Our website retained the brand’s vibrant look and feel, whilst ensuring that user experience was clean and intuitive.
Driving engagement
As with any significant project of this scale, a public consultation was used to educate the local community on the proposals. As part of this process, bright and accessible supporting materials were designed to assist in acquiring vital feedback.
A suite of attention-grabbing digital assets also helped to attract the more digital-savvy to the brand’s social media channels.
Attracting investment
A high-quality brochure was created to catch the eye of potential investors, with the brand’s unique aesthetic communicating the development’s key USPs in a dynamic and memorable way.
Creating at scale
Hundreds of yards of hoarding – so often a blight on the scenery – created a visually-arresting advertisement for the benefits of the scheme that is, just like the brand, totally at home in Blackpool’s glittering seaside environment.
